On Whit Monday, the traditional exhibition of prints will open in the Friedrichshof manor house on our orchard meadow. "Mecklenburg Landscapes" by E. Böttger (Finsterwalde), show works by an ingenious and true-to-life graphic artist. Some works from private collections are being shown for the first time.
Private owners of palaces, castles and manor houses in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia open their doors to visitors under the sign of the peony. Just like the peony, these historic houses "blossom" again at Whitsun after a beauty sleep over the winter and open their doors to delight visitors with their grace and splendor.
But there are other parallels between the beautiful flower and the venerable private monuments. Peonies can live for up to a century. This makes them one of the flowers with the longest life expectancy. Our houses are also often many centuries old and an integral part of the respective country's history.
