1773 – Chodowiecki’s Journey to Danzig, READING AND LECTURE
In June 1773, the artist Daniel Chodowiecki traveled from Berlin to his hometown of Danzig. Through the eyes of an “insider with a sense of detachment,” he documented the city and its inhabitants. The result was a unique record in images and words that today offers us a rare glimpse into the everyday lives of Gdańsk’s citizens at the end of the 18th century.
