On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the town, the regional ensemble SONORO-CONSORT will perform the interesting and informative concert project "800 years of Wittenburg - a musical journey through time" on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 7.30 pm in the town hall of Wittenburg.
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, 7.30 pm, the Musikverein Wittenburg e.V. in cooperation with the performing musicians of the ensemble SONORO - CONSORT invites you to the 800th anniversary of the town to the
177th Hour of Music with a very interesting concert program in the restored hall of the Demmler Town Hall.
Under the theme "A musical journey through 5 centuries", the performers Dr. Grit Nonnemann, Hartmuth Juch and Steffen Böhme will present rarely heard works by renowned European composers from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
In this 90-minute moderated program, they will perform rarely heard historical musical instruments alongside very occasional rarities from the history of music. The appreciative audience can look forward to the performance of the lute, the tenor crumhorn and the keyed fiddle, Swedish nyckelharpa or Italian viola d'amore a ch. Viola d'amore a chiavi.
Compositions by T. Arbeau, J. Dowland, T. Morley, G.P. Telemann and traditional Celtic and Nordic folk will be performed.
Admission to the concert starts at 7 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the box office.
