A summer evening that promises a good mood! Soloists: Laura Scherwitzel, soprano Andres Felipe Orozco, tenor Conductor: Kenichiro Kojima
This year, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by conductor Kenichiro Kojima, will once again perform a series of enchanting melodies from opera, operetta and concerts in Waren's city harbor. It starts with Strauss' cheerful and lively "Fledermaus" overture. Highlights from Emmerich Kálmán's "Csárdásfürstin" and Paul Lincke's "Frau Luna" continue in an amusing and entertaining manner. Eliza Doolittle, the flower seller from "My Fair Lady", shares her happiness with us: "I would have danced tonight". Freddy, her suitor, also seems happy because he knows "you live in the street".
Catchy tunes from operas by Verdi, Puccini and Mascagni transport the audience to Bella Italia in an emotionally moving and atmospheric way. With the aria "O mio babbino caro" from "Gianni Schicchi", one of the most enchanting opera arias par excellence is on the program. The intermezzo from "Cavalleria risticana" invites you to indulge in pleasant orchestral harmonies. The cheerful drinking song from "La Traviata" ("Libiamo ne' lieti calici") puts you in a festive mood.
Last but not least, it gets very British when the orchestra celebrates Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance" march, which is part of the Last Night of the Proms ritual.
