Under this year's motto: "Freedom, Democracy and Tolerance", the Hannah Arendt Week is dedicated to current topics in a changing program
Under the patronage of actor and director Charly Hübner, the "Uwe Johnson" House of Literature is organizing a Hannah Arendt Week for the first time this year.
The writer Uwe Johnson had a deep friendship with the Jewish philosopher and political theorist Hannah Arendt. Arendt's work on totalitarianism research in particular is still relevant today.
Johnson and Arendt were repeatedly preoccupied with the question of personal responsibility and guilt as well as political freedom in modern mass societies.
As an annual series of events, the Hannah Arendt Week offers the opportunity to explore current political events and the functioning and structure of power in the public sphere as well as its representation in literature.
The Hannah Arendt Week in Klütz pursues a supra-regional participatory and dialog-oriented approach. At various regional and national venues, socio-political situations are analyzed, lively discussed and presented in the context of lectures, discussions and readings.
