Jazz concert
The musical fireworks ignited by Lutz Funke (large and small saxophones) and Carsten Nachtigall (black and white keys) will, as always, cast a spell over the audience!
The interplay between the two musicians, which has grown over the years and is based on blind trust, swings, blueses, inspires and simply flies over (time) boundaries without losing harmony and intensity: There are the Beatles next to a George Gershwin, while Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart waits next to Esbjörn Svensson for Duke Ellington, who has missed his A-Train. But Birdhouse Jazz doesn't just adorn itself with other people's tunes, original compositions also have their place in the repertoire.
The duo conjures up sounds for the heart and soul, fully exploiting the spectrum of liveliness from sweetly melancholic to spiritedly passionate, coupled with wit and charm. Their refreshingly cheerful moderation makes the connection to the audience seem self-evident.
Birdhouse Jazz make every listener smile with their very own interpretations.
Saxophonist Lutz Funke has many years of concert experience in various rock and big bands, which he tastefully integrates into the Birdhouse sound with his imaginative playing. The multi-instrumentalist knows how to skillfully combine groovy passages and quiet ballads with his warm sound.
Pianist Carsten Nachtigall weaves the harmonious tapestry of sound for the duo with his melodious, jazzy-bluesy sound, sometimes playing on acoustic, sometimes on electric instruments. His multi-faceted playing has already taken him on international concert tours to Canada and other European countries.
