Zislow half-timbered church
It was built in the 17th century, the century of war, so that it was only when it was finally completed in 1746 that it was possible to preach in it.
As the building has no tower, a belfry with a cast-steel bell was erected next to the church.
There are no significant treasures in the chapel-like building. It is known from the 19th century that the people of Zislow were not particularly fond of donations. But what can you donate when you barely have enough to live on?
On Christmas Eve 1906, the first church service was held in Zislow, which has been repeated every afternoon on Christmas Eve ever since. At Christmas 1920, tenant farmer Gustav Schriever and Major Andreas von Flotow donate an iron chandelier to the church.
During the turmoil of the Second World War and afterwards, people were not necessarily concerned about the appearance of the church. For this reason, church services were also held in the private homes of Zislov citizens after 1945. It was only thanks to the efforts of the Satow pastor family Lia and Dr. Ullrich Müller that the Zislov church was restored from autumn 1989 to spring 1992 and thus saved from imminent decay. The renovation cost DM 91,500. The 120-year-old belfry was also rebuilt. A new foundation was built from field stones to suit the area and a bell frame made from strong oak beams was installed.
The association "Kunst/Kultur/Kirche Zislow e.V." was founded on 31 March 1995 and organizes exhibitions and concerts in this church in addition to church services. The numerous holidaymakers in particular make use of the offers and appreciate the activities of the association.
