The island town of Malchow is located in the center of a lake-forest landscape rich in contrasts in Mecklenburg between Lake Fleesensee and Lake Plauer See on the shores of Lake Malchow.

The marina is located on the western shore of Lake Plau south of Plau am See. The oldest sailing school in Mecklenburg is also located here.

The building was inaugurated in 1957 as a "movie palace", but today presents objects from past times.

The Sparow Estate is located in the middle of the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park with the adjacent Müritz National Park.

The cozy Café Hufschlag at the Zislow horse farm serves homemade cakes, changing soups and hot and cold drinks. Children and museums - you might think that doesn't fit. In Plau am See, that's not true. The town has a museum where even the young won't get bored. The former Plau Castle offers interesting insights into history, and it also houses a unique museum of local history and technology.

The castle tower in Plau was built in 1448/49 and is still completely preserved. The 3 m thick walls and the 11 m deep dungeon, as well as the tower ascent, amaze locals and guests alike when they visit.

At the end of the Second World War, German refugees from Volhynia, a historic region in the north-west of what is now Ukraine, found their way to Mecklenburg. After an unprecedented odyssey full of uncertainty and suffering, around 40 families settled on the former Linstow estate from 1945 onwards. Their history still shapes the face of the village today.
