Rest at the "hospital stop" for pilgrims and cyclists on the Way of St. James, St. Bridget's Pilgrimage Route and the long-distance cycle paths (Berlin-Copenhagen and Hamburg-Rügen), a place to rest, relax and recharge your batteries in the spirit of the foundation's historical mission

A time-honored site - with a new idea. With the haltepunkt hospital, Bützow has another inviting place - for guests and locals alike. It is a place that reaches far back into the history of Bützow. The Hospital zum Heiligen Geist Foundation, which has realized this project, has existed in this town for centuries. Bützow and the foundation's grounds are located on several pilgrimage routes, cycle paths and hiking trails, most prominently the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route. A special place has been created here for the town and its guests. Rest for body and soul - that should be possible here. Rest for the weary and burdened. Not just with a hiking rucksack and panniers. But also loaded with everything that life and everyday life heaves onto our backs. There is a chapel and a rest room - freely accessible through a time lock. Pick up a pilgrim's seal, fill a water bottle, light a candle, take a break, learn something about history - all this is possible here. Welcome to the hospital stop!

    Parish Church of St. Mary

    • Open today
    • Markt, 18273 Güstrow

The Güstrow parish church stands on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the town hall. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in the center of Güstrow in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. When you enter the parish church, the first thing you see is the completely restored Jan Borman altar from 1522. This work of art, the ornate pulpit, the impressive organ and a small Barlach angel are already reasons enough to take a look around. But there is one very special highlight that you should not miss: 196 steps lead up to the 41 meter high observation deck of the highest building in Güstrow. A magnificent view over the city and Heidberge, the lakes and the meadows leaves many tourists amazed.
