The early Gothic Nikolai Church in Röbel, whose construction was probably begun around 1250, is unique in its closed nature in northern Germany today.
The citizens of the "New Town in Röbel" (1261) built their representative church as a structural copy of St. Mary's Church in the now newly created center, certainly as a building unit with the large assembly/market square and the town hall.
Consecration of the main altar by the Havelberg Bishop Heinrich around 1275, to whose diocese the town in Röbel belonged since 1252. All in all, the expansion and renovation of St. Nicolai always took place 20-40 years after St. Mary's Church, but in all it was somewhat more representative, as it corresponded to the self-image of the citizens of Neustadt. This also applies to the massive tower, which was built at the time of the robber baron wars in the 15th century, not least as a defense and watchtower. The "Holy Spirit Church" of the German settlement, which had been used until then, increasingly lost its importance and was finally moved to Predigerstraße after 1389.
