National Park and Nature Conservation Centres

The nature conservation station has an exhibition that introduces interested visitors to the natural habitat Recknitztal with numerous display and information boards, overview maps, exhibits and taxidermy. The exhibition informs about the origin of the Recknitz valley and the valley moor, the existing habitats and the animal and plant species living here and their change through human use up to the renaturation in the recent past.

In the period from May 1 to September 30, the exhibition is open on Wednesday and Thursday from 13:00 to 17:00. In addition, guided tours can be arranged for small groups by appointment. During the winter months, guided tours are only available by appointment.

The visit of the exhibition is basically free of charge for the individual tour through the exhibition. In the context of guided tours (duration depending on the interest of the visitors about 1.0 - 1.5 hours) a small donation for the preservation of the exhibition is gladly accepted.

Appointments can be made via one of the following two e-mails:

Hardo.Wanke@NABU.DE

Ute.Schmidt@NABU.DE

The permanent exhibition in the nature conservation station is maintained by employees of the NABU Foundation National Natural Heritage. At the same time, the employees take care of the outdoor facilities at the nature conservation station (meadow orchard, species-rich field hedge, pastures) and of further approx. 30 ha of biotope areas in the Recknitz valley.
