Rambin Monastery - a journey into the past.
The place Rambin was mentioned for the first time in 1246 as "Rabyn". The place name is of Slavic origin. Rambin was the center of a Gardvogt district and as such certainly possessed a castle rampart. Already in the 14th century several owners shared the place - the Duke of Pomerania, the monastery of St. Jürgen before Rambin and the pastorate. The monastery of St. Jürgen dates back to the 14th century and originally served as a hospital and infirmary. Since the 19th century it was used as a monastery, the chapel was restored in 1839. Today it houses a gallery with changing exhibitions. The total of three residential houses behind the chapel originally belonged to the monastery. The two-story brick building on the right is classicism in its purest form, K. F. Schinkel is said to have influenced the planning. The relief on the middle house shows St. George fighting the dragon.
