Mummendorf Manor House

Mummendorf Manor House in West Mecklenburg, © Herrnleben

The former manor house of the von Bassewitz family has remained in remarkably good condition thanks to its continuous use - including as a school - and is currently being carefully renovated by new owners.

In the middle of the rural cultural landscape of Mecklenburg lies the historic Mummendorf manor house - an important example of aristocratic manor house architecture, once owned by the traditional von Bassewitz family. For decades, the estate served as a place of education: the Mummendorf Central School was housed here from 1953. This continuous use contributed significantly to the preservation of the building's substance.

In 1994, the Koopmann family took over the estate and initiated the first renovation measures. Since 2023, the manor house has been owned by the Herrnleben family, who continue to restore the building for private use and develop it further with great respect for its history.

Today, the manor house combines the charm of historical architecture with new life - an impressive example of the successful continuation of Mecklenburg's manor house tradition in a private context.
