Liebesinsel is part of the Mirow castle ensemble. It is connected to the castle island by an iron bridge.
The tomb of Adolf Friedrich VI, the last Grand Duke of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz region, is located on "Liebesinsel". He died in February 1918 under unexplained circumstances. His life and death are shrouded in mystery. It is assumed that he shot himself and was buried on the Liebesinsel in accordance with his will of 1917, which already contained a design for the tomb. This monument is at the same time the "turned to stone" conclusion of the history of the ruling House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the palace as a ducal residence.
