The townscape of Kühlungsborn is characterized by historic buildings and elaborately renovated villas in the style of resort architecture. The old narrow-gauge railroad "Molli" has connected Kühlungsborn with Heiligendamm and Bad Doberan for over 100 years. From the Bastorf lighthouse guests have a particularly beautiful view of the town and its surroundings. The building is also the highest lighthouse in Germany.
