The Zoo was founded in 1961. Nowadays there are living 300 animals from 45 animal species. The Zoo is located in a light forest and is especially used as a pleasure recovery from the beach during very warm days. The animal enclosures, which are very close to nature are partly accessible. For example, the monkey forest with common brown lemurs (only in two Zoos in Germany), the kangaroo enclosure or the alpaca enclosure with free-living prairie dogs. Also there are playgrounds, enclosures to pet animals, a small catering and a lot more to see.
