Nestled in the heart of Mecklenburg’s expansive lake district, the Mirow castle complex is situated in a picturesque location on an island. Here, the castle, gatehouse, cavalier’s house, coach house, St. John’s Church, and the surrounding landscape park come together to form a unique testament to nearly 800 years of Mecklenburg’s architectural and cultural history. The history of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz is impressively presented in the castle museum and in the exhibition at the 3 Queen’s Palace. The Church of St. John houses the ducal crypt and the Order of St. John Museum. You’ll need to climb 146 steps in the church tower to enjoy a breathtaking view of the small town of Mirow. The reading café and the restaurant at the Alte Schlossbrauerei feature a lakeside terrace with a magnificent view of Lake Mirow.
