Starting at Malchin Train Station, we ride through the city gate and reach Malchin’s historic center and market square. The town parish church is worth a visit before we ride through the southern city gate into the park and leave town along the federal highway toward Stavenhagen. We turn left onto Deutsche Alleenstraße and arrive in Leuschentin. Now we follow the bike path to the left toward Kummerow and reach the village through the fields. We pass the Baroque castle with its landscape park on the lakeshore. A bike path running parallel to the road takes us past a small settlement to Sommersdorf, which features several farms offering organic products and a charming estate. We follow the bike path—with views of the lake—to Meesinger, another tranquil village with brick houses. Our ride continues along small, nearly deserted roads. In Bornitz, we turn toward Verchen. This fishing village charms with its peaceful atmosphere on the lake’s northern shore, featuring a long promenade and swimming spots. Following the shore, we reach the “Aalbude.” From March through mid-October, a boat crosses the Peene River. Passing reed beds and rushes, a road leads us to Kürzerhof. Shortly afterward, a path branches off to the left. In the wooded area, we climb the 24-meter-high “Bocksberg.” At the end of the path, we turn left and pass through Warsow and Neu-Warsow. We cycle past the marshlands of the Neukalener Wiesen. We can observe the wildlife from an observation deck. Our next destination is Neukalen. We follow the bike path signs to the harbor and into the pretty town center with its ring-shaped streets. Then the route takes us downhill across open countryside toward Salem. A hill with a scenic overlook and rest area invites us to linger. Finally, we follow the signs back to Malchin.
