The 3 Queens Palace—located in the former cavalier’s house of Mirow Castle—is now a modern cultural and interactive center where the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and its three famous princesses, who went on to become prominent European queens, are brought back to life. The interactive exhibition, rotating special exhibitions featuring regional artists, themed guided tours of the historic complex, the Palais Café with its exquisite selection of cakes and unparalleled view of Lake Mirow, as well as events and royal treasure hunts in the summer, allow all visitors to immerse themselves in times gone by.
The 3 Königinnen Palais, located in the old Kavalierhaus on Mirow Castle Island, offers an interactive exhibition for the whole family. Accompanied by numerous detailed explanations in text, images, and audio—understandable even for the youngest visitors—it guides visitors through the history of the region and the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
Beginning with the first settlements by the Slavs, through the emergence and flourishing of the noble houses and the region’s first towns, all the way to the eventful stories of the three princesses from the House of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who became prominent European queens—Sophie Charlotte (Queen of Great Britain and Ireland), Louise (Queen of Prussia), and Friederike (Queen of Hanover).
Interactive stations such as the immersive cinema, the visual comparison of the queens’ profiles, the talking ancestral gallery, or the photo station for a family portrait à la “Prince and Princess with a Click”—round out this journey through the history of the Mecklenburg Lake District just as much as the numerous audiovisual impressions of its natural riches and beauty.
