Learn to ride on vacation
Whether English or Western, for beginners, professionals, children or adults - in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern there is a whole range of different Unterrichtsformen. Children are introduced to the pony in a playful way. They often start with vaulting, a type of gymnastics on the horseback, but in any case with training in small groups. Some of the providers' programs are specially tailored to women, others to mothers and fathers or to the whole family. And there are also a range of courses for children, young people and adults with physical or mental difficulties. The approach here is: When dealing with the large, gentle animals, people are addressed holistically, i.e. through all the senses equally.
Events for horse lovers
Throughout the year, there are events on the program from the island of Rügen to the country estate of Redefin, in which the noble four-legged friends play a major role. Since the 30-year war, for example, the barrel-killing has been celebrated primarily on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, but also in other regions of the country. It was presumably a response by the common people to the tournaments of the nobility, from which they were always excluded. In the barrel smashing, galloping riders try to smash a suspended herring barrel with powerful blows using wooden knuckles.
The annual winter fun on Warnemünde beach is just as cheerful, with pony rides, horse races and horse riding directly on the icy Baltic Sea. Later in May, polo is played at the same location.
Top-class show jumping tournaments such as the international CSI tournament in Redefin or the mare parades at the Ganschow stud farm also delight horse lovers. The Redefin State Stud alone regularly hosts festivals, stallion parades or the popular picnic horse symphony concerts - a treat for the eyes and ears.
