Darßer NaturfilmFestival 2025: Program section "Depth"
An extraordinary string of natural pearls runs through Germany. From the Baltic Sea to the Vogtland, it connects over 100 different biotopes with rare animal and plant species over a length of 1,400 kilometers to form the Green Belt. Rarities such as the black stork, otter, grasshopper warbler and whinchat find ideal conditions in marshes, moors, pioneer forests and nutrient-poor grasslands. This unique biotope network is home to over 5,000 different animal and plant species, including over 600 highly endangered species. The elongated green oasis is a specially protected area whose origins could not be more hostile. The film brings this longest biotope network in Germany to life as a special place of remembrance.
