A wonderfully immoral story
Michelle is spending her retirement in an idyllic village in Burgundy, very close to her long-time friend Marie-Claude. When her daughter Valérie comes over and Michelle accidentally serves her poisonous mushrooms, the already tense relationship between the women escalates. Valérie accuses her mother of murder and forbids her any contact with her beloved grandson Lucas. Michelle plunges into a deep depression. But then Marie-Claude's son is released from prison - ready to help his mother's best friend.
In radiant autumnal images, iconic director François Ozon serves up a sophisticated thriller with surprises right to the end. The film, which features a top-class cast including French acting stars Hélène Vincent, Josiane Balasko, Ludivine Sagnier and Pierre Lottin, celebrated its premiere at the international film festival in San Sebastian, where it won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor. Hélène Vincent has also been nominated for this year's César for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
