WHO OWNS MY VILLAGE?

by Christoph Eder (D 2021, 96 min)

The local politics of growth and investment in the popular Baltic resort of Göhren on the island of Rügen, the home of filmmaker Christoph Eder, are facing strong headwinds. When the last untouched coastline is to be developed, there is clear resentment among some citizens. For years, a group of men, the "four from the bar", have dominated the local council. They support all the projects of a multi-million construction investor who built more hotels and vacation homes in Göhren after reunification than anyone else. Committed Göhren resident Nadine and her father Bernd quickly realize that they can only change things if they work together with like-minded people. They set up a citizens' initiative and run in the local elections...
