Opening of the new special exhibition
With the photographic series "ROUTE 96", photographer Josef Wolfgang Mayer explored a predominantly rural East German world. His works, created on several journeys (2013 - 2016) along the B 96 federal highway, which runs from Zittau to Rügen, show landscapes, places and locations between new beginnings and the past, modernity and decay. On the one hand sober and clearly documentary in the tradition of straight photography , the analog color photographs taken with a large-format camera unfold a poetic atmosphere and touching empathy for a world that has perhaps almost disappeared. They enable an impressive visual journey to German sensitivities and allow us to immerse ourselves in a time that seems both distant and close at the same time.
The event will be accompanied by music from Klaudia-Friederike Holdefleiß.
