In books about the Stone Age, we mainly see men hunting, chopping flint or painting caves. However, most of the images of people left behind by Ice Age people themselves show women. What kind of societies were these that portrayed them and their gender so centrally and without shame?
After years of research, Ulli Lust returns with a large-scale non-fiction comic about the beginnings of art and the importance of empathy for the survival of our species: a forgotten world unfolds around the archaic female figurines, in which the hero's journey was a group affair that could only be completed together, by women, men, children or even non-binary people in sometimes richly adorned roles.
