Time travel in the national park: barrows and burial mounds, castle ramparts and sea views from the chalk coast. Archaeological/historical/natural history hike with archaeologist Dr. Katrin Staude, approx. 5 km, circular route (register by the day before: 0157-72731751)
On this hike for young and old with archaeologist Dr. Katrin Staude in the scenic Jasmund National Park with wonderful views over the sea and the chalk, we start with what is probably the oldest castle rampart on Rügen: the "Hengst". Clearly visible, it was probably built directly on the cliffs around 3000 years ago. On the other hand, the excursion participants will get to know the approx. 5000-year-old megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period - the oldest buildings in northern Germany - as well as Bronze Age burial mounds and enigmatic bowl stones. The chalk, beech trees, flint, the Ice Age and artifacts such as axes and blades to "understand" history also play an important role on the hike.
Dates: every Wednesday (16.7. - 3.9.2025): 10-12.30 a.m.
