A doctorate in pop music? Yes, that's possible! And what do you do with it? Comedy and cabaret. Dr. Pop treats with music samples, curious facts and a good dose of humor.
He studied media studies and pop music in the world capitals of Manchester, Liverpool, Paderborn and Detmold and completed his doctorate at the Humboldt University in Berlin on Orientalism in pop music. Today he performs on stage, produces videos and can be heard regularly as a radio comedian on radioeins (RBB). His column "Dr. Pops Tonstudio" was nominated for the German Radio Award in the "Best Comedy" category. His book "Dr. Pops musikalische Sprechstunde" was also published by Heyne-Verlag, even in Korean translation.
In his current live program "Hitverdächtig", Dr. Pop explores the question of which music saves parties, supports relationships or enriches life. He fires off hits and samples from pop, rock, hip-hop, pop, classical and jazz and shows that there is a suitable soundtrack for every situation in life.
