Encounters on the outskirts of the city. Snack bar owner Jens falls in love with his neighbor Aischa during a night-time cigarette in the stairwell, while security guard Erik (Charly Hübner) develops feelings for young Marika during his routine tour of the foreigners' hostel. Cleaner Christa (Martina Gedeck) also seeks solace alongside hairdresser Birgitt at the end of her shift.
