"I am dying. Are you coming?" takes an unusual look at dying. The film tells of the challenges of the last days of life, of saying goodbye, of the fear of death - but also of the humor that life retains until the end, and of the realization that it often comes to an unfinished end. Kino auf der Tenne in Gessin is showing the film together with director Benjamin Kramme in an exclusive preview - even before the official theatrical release.
"I am dying. Are you coming?" seeks a sensitive yet powerful way of dealing with the subject of death and dying. Hospices are lively places: They are about life - about making it as painless and dignified as possible in its final phase. Death and dying are not taboo here, but part of life. Together we try to find an open, relaxed and safe way of dealing with the subject of death.
German Acting Award in the category "Dramatic Leading Role" for Jennifer Sabel
From the laudation by Jonathan Berlin: "Jennifer Sabel. I am dying. Are you coming? A title and a question that literally catches us because, like your character, it asks us to look. You play this Nadine with such tenderness and self-determination, with so much anger and love in equal measure, that your pain touches us deeply. The extent to which you have given yourself over to this process, that the body no longer supports you and yet still tries, is immense. Through your play, you remind us how precious life is and how precious the time we have together is."
