City museum and Christmas market: free admission, face painting for children and Christmas tour of the "Blue Tooth Treasure" in the city museum
The Bergen City Museum is once again taking part in this year's Christmas market and invites visitors to discover it with free admission, face painting for children and a varied program.
In addition to the permanent exhibition "From the Stone Age to the City", interested visitors can also view the special exhibition by Walter G. Goes "So near - so far" and the current depot exhibition "War and Remembrance". The popular face painting for children will also take place from 3-6 pm.
On Friday, December 5, 2025, at 4 p.m., museum director Marika Emonds will guide visitors through the presentation of the high-quality replicas of the so-called "Blue Tooth Treasure". This early medieval silver hoard, discovered in 2018 near Schaprode on the island of Rügen, fascinates with oriental, western European and English coins as well as impressive jewelry elements. The coins of the Danish King Harald Bluetooth (reigned 958-986), which gave the deposit its popular name: "Bluetooth Treasure", are of particular interest. The tour also answers the question of why the precious silver objects were often willfully crushed and chopped up. The replicas on display are a representative selection from the original ensemble.
