The Afghan author Taqi Akhlaqi reads from his reportage Die Welt ist ein ewiger Weg in the reportage volume Refugees Worldwide 3 and from Versteh einer die Deutschen - a look at Germany from the perspective of a newcomer. With subtle irony, humor and depth, he tells of the challenges of new beginnings, of amazement at German peculiarities and of the quiet, often comical moments of everyday life in a foreign country. Between language barriers, cultural differences and memories of what has been lost, a multi-layered portrait emerges of flight, identity and the search for belonging - and of how one not only gets to know others in a foreign country, but also oneself anew.
