Results of the XIII International Pleinair at the Museum Atelier Otto Niemeyer-Holstein
The mood is good, curious and enthusiastic about their first impressions of the Island of Usedom, six artists are currently experiencing the estate of the painter Otto Niemeyer-Holstein. The artists from Germany, Bulgaria and Ukraine are spending ten days working on the Island of Usedom at the invitation of the museum's sponsors' association.
Otto Niemeyer-Holstein, who is regarded as one of the most important painters on the German Baltic coast, always kept his house open for exchanges with fellow artists and was interested in a wide range of contacts. In keeping with this legacy, the Freundeskreis ONH, Lü.e.V. is organizing the XIII International Pleinair with the help of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald. This year, the jury had the particularly difficult task of selecting the participants from 77 applications.
Like Otto Niemeyer-Holstein, the artists who apply should be "admirers of the visible world" (Joachim John), work figuratively in order to be able to engage with the location: the Island of Usedom and the artists' estate. So far, 100 artists have stayed at the Otto Niemeyer-Holstein studio at the invitation of the Friends of ONH, Lü.e.V., which is advertising for the Island of Usedom in a different way.
