750 years of Langenstraße and Open Monument Day 2025. Researching history and monuments and bringing them to life - a living UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cultivating neighborhoods and celebrating together.
On the occasion of this year's Open Monument Day, the residents of Langenstraße are getting involved to find out more about historical monuments, former residents and their stories. With the support of the citizens' committee "Rette die Altstadt Stralsund" e.V. and Steffen Melle, a lot has already been collected and will be available to read on every house for the festival. Residents and guests can contribute their knowledge.
Restorer Wolf Thormeier will not only be opening his house in Badstüberstraße with a wallpaper exhibition, but will also be guiding visitors through Langenstraße past special doors. Neighbors open their doors and gardens, including the Sitte music store.
Musical delights: Peter Sitte and Kristin Löper from Musikhaus Sitte, Ulrike Woelken sings with children, Claas Früchtenicht plays the piano and BackSteinBlech with Ekkehard, Wohlgemuth, Johannes, Pilgrim, KMD Matthias Pech and Thomas Rettensteiner.
Food and drink will be provided by the Stadtwache, the KULTurschmiede, the CafeHoch3 and the Schipperhus. Neighbors serve. Coffee, cake and snacks.
Creative activities for young and old: Sandra Bergemann from the Vorpommern-Rügen Youth Art School, potter Kathrin Beßler, the ladies of the de Traditionsverein will be making and designing things and Verena Roeber will be encouraging face painting for children...
We look forward to meeting our neighbors, getting to know each other and exchanging ideas.
So that Langenstrasse and the UNESCO cultural heritage site become more lively! So celebrate with us!
