Reading as part of the 1st international literature festival graal-müritz

Two books, two perspectives on the Russian war against Ukraine: No! Voices from Russia against the war, edited by Sergei Lebedev, brings together 25 literary voices that oppose violence, propaganda and the war despite censorship, repression and persecution. The texts reflect on guilt, responsibility, inner emigration and life in exile - vivid, nuanced and personal. Afterwards, Lebedev will read from his recently published novel The Protector - a polyphonic European novel about the prehistory of the war in Ukraine. July 2014: After the downing of MH-17, debris rains down on the Donbass. Young Zhanna lives there with her mother Marianna, the "protector", in the midst of a landscape full of historical violence. In poetic images, Lebedev tells of the dirt that remains and the evil that never disappears.
