Schilltage Stralsund 2025 - Living History. Battle for Stralsund 1809.
Cannons roar, musket shots whip along the alleys, gun smoke obscures the sun. May 31, 1809 had begun. At 5 a.m. on May 31, 1809, Major Ferdinand von Schill had ordered his hussars to line up on the new market square in order to defeat the enemy with a surprise attack. But the 6,000 soldiers from France, the Netherlands, Denmark and the Reinbund states were too much for the 600 horsemen. So the Schill army corps entrenched itself in the town with around 1500 soldiers. Soldiers from many nations crowded into the narrow streets of Stralsund.
History comes to life from September 5 to 7, 2025. Once again, gunpowder fumes rise over the rooftops of Stralsund, the thunder of cannon shots rolls over the ponds of Stralsund. In the bivouac at the Hansagymnasium, civilian and military life can be viewed first-hand. We look forward to your presence. Try to talk to the actors, you will be amazed at the knowledge of the participants.
The Schilltage organized by the Stralsunder Schützen-Compagnie 1451 e.V. will begin on Friday with the opening ceremony on the Alter Markt in Stralsund. The commanders of the departments will briefly explain the origins and historical background of their units. On Saturday, after the officers' briefing and a muster in the bivouac, the historical groups conquer Stralsund. The involvement of residents and guests in the event will be a special surprise for many. Over 250 participants in historical uniforms or clothing will parade through Stralsund's old town.
