Reading with Uta Gosselck-Perschmann
An abandoned baby is found on the luxurious ocean liner Virginian, which is traveling between the Old and New Worlds around 1900. The sailors give him the name Novecento, Nineteen Hundred. Novecento develops into a celebrated jazz pianist, enchants the passengers, sails all the world's oceans, never goes ashore and perseveres even when the ship is to be blown up and starts its last voyage with a load of dynamite. The odyssey of this special man only comes to an end when he disembarks.
