On the trail of strong women
To this day, the history of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is rich in women whose lives and deeds have left their mark. They were and are pioneers for equal rights for all people and continue to encourage us to work towards a society in which every gender enjoys the same opportunities, rights and freedoms.
At first glance, the women in this collection have little to do with each other. Some had money and influence, others had to fear for their existence and their lives. Some have achieved spectacular things and have risen above themselves. Others worked inconspicuously in the background. They came from different eras and milieus.
At second glance, however, these women have one essential thing in common: they all crossed borders - with courage, talent, moral courage and humanity.
The focus today is on these women:
Dr. med Franziska Tiburtius
Charlotte Schimmelpfennig
Countess von Schimmelmann
Eufemia von Rügen
Marlies Preller
Thurid Pörksen
