The puppet theater "Kleines Theater" invites young and old fairy tale fans to "Rumpelstiltskin" on the cultural floor of the Alte Vogtei in Warnemünde. Up to 30 people can experience the lovingly staged puppet show in a cozy atmosphere. The performance starts at 15:00.
In order to gain respectability before the king, the miller assures him that his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king wants to see for himself and locks the miller's beautiful daughter in a straw-filled chamber under the roof of the castle.
The girl is desperate because the king has threatened her with death and bursts into tears. A little man then appears and helps the girl out of her misery.
When the king enters the chamber the next morning and sees only gold instead of straw, his greed grows to such an extent that he leads the miller's daughter into an even larger chamber with even more straw, repeats this a third time and even promises her marriage in return.
Each time, the little man is on hand to help and demands a reward for his efforts. So he gets the miller's daughter's necklace and ring, but she has no more and promises him her first child in his distress.
After the child is born, the little man is not long in coming and demands his reward. However, the queen cannot give her child away and begs for mercy. The male promises to grant her this mercy if the queen can guess his name.
Desperate, she calls him every name she can think of on two evenings until the male threatens to take the child away on the third evening if she fails to guess him again. But the queen had sent messengers to ask everyone for the most unusual names.
One of the messengers arrives in a forest, where he observes a little man dancing around a fire and singing a song that ends with the words. "Oh how good it is that no one knows my name is Rumpelstiltskin!"
The messenger hurries back to the castle and tells his mistress what he saw, so that the next day the queen calls the little man's name, he goes to ground in anger and is never seen again.
