Organ concert with KMD Rainer Goede on the historic baroque organ
The historic Sagard baroque organ sounds festive. The theme of the concert is the chaconne, with the focus on Bach's famous Chaconne in G minor, BWV 1004, as well as other chaconnes from the Baroque period, e.g. by Johann Krieger, Bernardo Storace, J. Pachelbel, Georg Böhm and A. Scarlatti. Church music director Rainer Goede will be playing. (Admission 10€)
The chaconne, from Spanish chacona; Italian ciaccona, is a dance possibly originating from Mexico and a musical variation form in triple meter. The earliest sources date back to Spain in the late 16th century; the chaconne experienced its heyday as a theatrical dance in France in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, before falling out of fashion towards the end of the century. As with the passacaglia, an ostinato bass melody with a constantly repeating harmonic scheme is typical of the chaconne.
