With Joshua Weilerstein and Iidamari Ahonen, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic brings the dream of peace back to Peenemünde.
The Baltic Sea Philharmonic was founded in 2008 by the Usedom Music Festival and stands for an idea that is more urgently needed today than ever before: the cultural unity of all ten countries in the Baltic Sea region. This year, it will once again be a guest on Usedom and give a voice to the longing for peace in Peenemünde, a former place of war.
The 22-year-old Finnish violinist Iidamari Ahonen lives in Berlin. She studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and the Berlin University of the Arts, among others. She received important impulses in master classes with Elina Vähälä and Ilja Grubert. She has performed as a soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Tampere Philharmonic. Iidamari Ahonen has already won numerous prizes and is this year's recipient of the Usedom Music Prize.
