Musical theater evening based on Joseph Hadyn and Lorenzo Romano
The moon is many things to people: a mystery, a symbol of time, of progress, a projection screen and a place of longing! In summer 2025, the Federal Academy for Young Music Theater's major summer production will combine two operas that explore the fascination with the moon: Joseph Haydn's "Il mondo della luna" and Lorenzo Romano's "La Luna". The remarkable duo enters into a symbiosis that allows musical styles from different eras to collide - creating a multi-layered kaleidoscope of sound around the fascination of the moon, at the end of which the question arises: What is a big step for mankind?
After Jacques Offenbach (2024) and Henry Purcell (2023), the Bundesakademie für junges Musiktheater is turning its attention to two composers at once. Haydn's work with the German title "Die Welt auf dem Monde" was premiered in 1777 and is based on a play by the Italian comic poet Carlo Goldoni. In contrast, the visionary music theater piece by the Italian composer Lorenzo Romano has only recently entered musical history: after its world premiere at the Hamburg State Opera in 2022, it will now be performed for the second time as part of the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera's festival summer.
