Film screening as part of the 1st international literature festival graal-müritz
The film "Kafka's Last Journey", produced by Hans-Gerd Koch together with Clemens Schmiedbauer, follows the last stages of Franz Kafka's life from Prague to the Wienerwald Sanatorium near Pernitz, on to the Laryngological University Clinic in Vienna and to the last stop, the Dr. Hermann Sanatorium in Kierling near Klosterneuburg. Letters and documents are shown in which the desperate search of the tuberculosis sufferer for recovery is expressed. Interviews with Kafka researchers provide an approach to the man in the last phase of his life. A medical historian explains the course of Kafka's illness and the helplessness of doctors given the state of medicine at the time.
