Event as part of the 9th Jewish Culture Days in Rostock
Wolfgang Rieck has added the Low German story "Mottche Spinkus un de Pelz" by John Brinckman, which is set in the Jewish milieu of the small town of Güstrow in the first half of the 19th century, to his artistic reading repertoire. It is the extremely funny story of the old, thrifty Jew who can't stop trading. The matter-of-factness with which Brinckman portrays his Jewish fellow citizens is the ethos of the work. At breathtaking speed, linguistic passages switch from Yiddish-tinged High German to Low German and small-town High German - a real challenge not only for the performer! An extraordinarily entertaining novella, which will put a strain on the audience's laughter muscles.
The story will be accompanied by Low German and High German songs written by the author himself or based on texts by other authors. The evening is sponsored by the Rostock Tourist Board.
