Dramatization of Melville's world novel.

ENSEMBLE PERSONA , Munich

"The production (...) contrasts the dark thoughts with imaginative theatrical magic. (...) like a gracefully enraptured dream." Mathias Hejny, Abendzeitung

Inspired by the poetry of Shakespeare and the archaism of biblical texts, Herman Melville's world novel tells the famous adventure story about the mighty white whale Moby Dick and his vengeful hunter Captain Ahab.

Homeless and driven by blind hatred, the latter gathers a community of conspiratorial companions around him who, in their battle with the forces of nature, are confronted with the primal questions of the human search for meaning: What do we live for? What is the goal?

In powerful images and with philosophical depth, Melville describes man's struggle with himself and nature, drawing a visionary portrait of our modern civilization.

The ENSEMBLE PERSONA is a Munich-based professional ensemble of freelance theater artists who live out their convictions with their outstanding treatment of language and their clear, unpretentious style of acting: To convey the wealth of life wisdom of great texts in all its profound, poetic and humorous facets in a way that is understandable and emotionally touching for the audience.
