52 draught oxen, four hankies and a gay cavalry captain Visitor times of the exhibition: October 25 and 26, 2025 from 12:00 to 17:00 November 01, 02, 08 and 09, 2025 from 12:00 to 17:00
Constant ups and downs: four sisters and a death, a gay cavalry captain who finally finds his home and a 27-year-old widow who makes the best of 52 draught oxen and four hankies: how has the Quilow estate changed over four centuries? What was life like for the lords of the manor? What was life like for the serfs? And who or what are cossats?
Oven tiles and cream tins, portraits and snapshots, inventory lists and cadastral maps, funeral sermons and personal memories tell us about the privileges and oppressive duties, successes and defeats of times gone by. Piece by piece, the visitor is presented with a picture of the rise and fall of manorial rule and economy in one of the countless small Pomeranian manor villages.
Our small café is open for you in the vaulted hall on the first floor.
