A relationship breaks up, a passport expires - and suddenly everything is at stake. Maysoon (Sabrina Amali), an Egyptian archaeologist who works as a museum guide in Berlin, lives with her partner Tobi (Florian Stetter) and their two young children. Everything seems fine, they are a happy family, until Tobi reveals after a trip to the beach that he is having an affair. Maysoon has to watch helplessly as her painstakingly rebuilt middle-class life falls apart. Between personal betrayal, impending divorce and the custody battle for the children, bureaucratic hurdles and the threat of deportation due to her expired passport, her political involvement in the Arab Spring catches up with her. In a city that once promised freedom, Maysoon asks herself about her place in society. MAYSOON is a multi-layered drama about a woman in a state of emergency - and about the radical nature of love.
