Introduction to the new drama production
A tenement serves Gerhart Hauptmann as a reflection of society: in the attic, the unemployed theater director Hassenreuter secretly pursues amorous pleasures. Occasionally, acting classes are also held up there, with heated arguments about whether art should be beautiful or reflect real life. At the center of the plot, however, is the childless Mrs. John, who takes her child from a young maid, which ultimately ends tragically.
At the matinee, the team around director Max Lindemann gives a foretaste of the new production, which premieres on 20 September.
