Introduction to the new music theater production
Finnish director Anna Kelo stages one of the most touching operas in music history at the Volkstheater. Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly uses emotional arias to tell the tragic story of the young Japanese woman Cio-Cio San, who is desperately waiting for the return of her American lover, Lieutenant Pinkerton. In a Sunday matinee, the management team and members of the ensemble provide insights into the preparations, explain the background to the work, its creation and staging and offer musical samples.
