Commemoration of the 216th anniversary of Queen Luise's death
July 19 marks the 216th anniversary of the death of Prussian Queen Luise. The queen died unexpectedly at her father's summer palace in 1810. Luise's tragic end made Hohenzieritz sadly famous.
The lecture "Reality and Imagination - Queen Luise in Portrait " is the focus of the program. Palace director Dr. Susanne Bocher and curator Dr. Jörg Meiner will discuss the numerous portraits of the monarch and the question of how these depictions still shape the image of the queen today. The event will be complemented by a wine tasting with the Schloss Rattey winery. To mark the 250th anniversary of Queen Luise's birth this year, the special "Queen Luise" wine edition will be presented, which comes from the only wine-growing region in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Admission to the memorial and participation in the lecture are free of charge on this day.
