with Kurt Kuhfeld (vocals) and Kenneth Berkel (piano)
Kurt Kuhfeld sings about love, with Kenneth Berkel on the piano
Kurt Kuhfeld is a singing storyteller.
With a classical background and a pop music foreground, he skillfully maneuvers his way through a wide variety of musical genres and creates a link between the German-language chanson repertoire of the 1920s/30s and selected pop, jazz and musical gems with his idiosyncratic, unmistakable vocal style.
Together with his pianist Kenneth Berkel, he musically celebrates the splendor and vulnerability of the greatest of all themes - of falling in love for the first time, of jealousy and loneliness, of great disappointments and the hope of a happy ending.
Poetic, silly, ecstatic, intimate and just a little bit kitschy, pieces by Friedrich Hollaender, Mischa Spoliansky, Kurt Weill, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, Michel Legrand and others are presented.
Kurt Kuhfeld studied singing and musical theater at the Rostock University of Music and Theater. Guest engagements at the Rheingau Music Festival, the Staatstheater Cottbus, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and others.
